YOUNG WRITERS FESTIVAL COMPETITION 2008

If you are under 26 and have an urgent story to tell, write it for us and send it into the Young Writers Festival competition by 31 May 2008. Your play can be about absolutely anything and take any style. The most exciting plays will win a full professional production at the Royal Court Theatre in February 2009.

The Royal Court Young Writers Programme is a department of the Royal Court Theatre which is committed to opening up theatre to the most exciting and diverse range of new voices. We aim to develop and perform the best in new writing for the theatre, encouraging writers from all sections of society to address the problems and possibilities of our times and to promote its work vigorously to new and existing audiences. The YWP prides itself on bridging the gap between high art and community arts by providing an essential link that enables young people to make the journey from the locality right through to the stage of the world famous Royal Court Theatre. The Royal Court Young Writers Programme is open to anyone between the ages of 13 and 25 who wants to create and experience contemporary drama and we are committed to providing a service of the highest quality to young people.  We run playwriting courses based at the theatre as well as playwriting projects in schools, youth centres, colleges, prisons, chat rooms, girls groups, refugee centres, the workplace... in fact we will run projects pretty much anywhere.
