James Dimelow is a British playwright and screenwriter whose work includes Consequence, Romance and Jungle. His writing has been previously praised by London’s Soho and Royal Court theatres.
On behalf of the Norwich 12 heritage and tourism initiative James wrote the original screenplay for an online animation about the city’s iconic Assembly House.
He has also written a Dickensian drama for Norfolk Museums Service and Gressenhall Farm & Workhouse. The Ghosts Of Gressenhall script was then subsequently displayed at the national heritage centre.
James wrote and directed the audio drama Pedigree to commemorate William Shakespeare’s 400th anniversary. The blackly comic short was published by Fine City magazine prior to its performance at the Maddermarket Theatre.
The English author has also had magazine articles published. One of these articles saw James sharing his knowledge and experience of the playwriting process. These creative skills were then utilised further when he hosted a writing workshop.
An increased media awareness of James’ writing has led to several features and interviews. Partly due to the popularity of this website, James was invited onto BBC Radio to discuss his plays and writing career to date.
James has also successfully completed a Script & Screen Writing programme at the University Of East Anglia, along with the in-house Stage Management course at Theatre Royal Norwich.
In addition to being an enthusiastic quizzer, James also enjoys reading, listening to music, playing snooker, plus visiting museums and going to the cinema. He is currently writing a series of short films and researching a feature-length screenplay.
